It's been a slow process for me deciding whether it's worth looking into Twitter and Facebook. I don't have a Facebook account. I've been holding back on using my Twitter account. There hasn't been enough time to consider what to do with it - until recently when I started blogging. I can see now that using Twitter might lead to a bigger audience, but having to write a tweet and and blog seems like too much work.
Today, I found out that a blog post can also be a tweet - sweet! I'll write more about how to pull it off later (see Feeding Your Blog to Twitter using Twitterfeed below), but the short summary is find a service like Twitterfeed, use it to point your blog's RSS feed to your Twitter account, and voila! Your blog posts are tweets.
You're reading my blog, and here is my tweet.
Your blog software may also provide a feature that integrates your blog with Twitter. TypePad, the blogging software used by OJ Fizz, allows its users to tweet their blog posts.
Do you "kill two birds with one stone", and blog and micro blog/tweet at the same time? What tools do you use? Please leave a comment and let me know.
Feeding your blog to Twitter using Twitterfeed
- Create an RSS feed for your blog. OJ Fizz uses FeedBurner; there are many alternatives.
- Sign up with TwitterFeed or some other RSS to Twitter service.
- Provide Twitterfeed with your feed URL.
- Point Twitterfeed to your Twitter account.
- Done!
