Have you ever wanted to remove the clutter from a web page that you're reading - all of the distractions, such as the ads, the widgets, the menu bars? Readability by Arc90 is a browser plugin that removes clutter from web pages for you at the click of a button. Microsoft Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox and Apple Safari browsers are all supported. Readability is available for Google's Chrome, too, but you have to do a little more work to install it.
Readability for Internet Explorer, Firefox and Safari
Go here to add the readability plugin to your browser's toolbar. Follow the instructions on the page to add the plugin to your browser. Then the next time you come to a page with an ad that distracts you, like the ones with the spastic cartoon dancers, click the Readability button on your toolbar. Poof! The clutter is gone, and what is left is very much like what you'd see in a newspaper article: nicely formatted text and relevant pictures. You can see the original, cluttered page again by clicking the button in the upper left corner of the page.
Readability for Google Chrome
Search for Readability on Google's Chrome extensions page, and follow the installation instructions. There are a couple of options. I use Chrome, and the Readability Redux port contributed by this kind and motivated software developer works well.
